- For criticism see Criticism of Original_idea
An Original idea is an Idea which one person thought up, wholly or partly, independently of other people. Sometimes two or more people can come up with the same idea independently: There is a saying, "Great minds think alike." Original ideas can be highly unique, one-of-a-kind, or slight variations on other themes. Much of scientific and philosophical development takes place by subsequent modifications and explanations of what came before. Further, the ways various social groups react to original ideas, from school to work, can vary as widely as the ideas themselves.
