Crestone has a municipal water supply with a tank and water treatment above town. It is just north of the east end of Galena Avenue. However many homes are served by drilled wells with a depth of a hundred feet or so. The further the lots are to the east the deeper a drilled well must be with depths of 350 ft necessary at the eastern boundary. There are a few dug wells remaining. These are easily contaminated by surface waste or events but can be decontaminated using chlorine compounds, including household bleach.
