The "bourgeois proletariat", or,"labor aristocracy," is a proletariat which benefits to such an extent from imperialism and exploitation of the proletariat of other nations that it has adopted the political perspective of the bourgeoisie. Political analysts who make this criticism single out the working people of Europe, particularly the United Kingdom, and the United States as having this characteristic. This phenomenon as affecting the British working class was first noted by Friedrich Engels.
