Eleanor Leacock

Eleanor Burke Leacock (1922 - 1987) was an American cultural anthropologist. She grew up in a leftist environment and was part Native American. She studied the changing social and gender relations of the subarctic Innu in Northern Québec and Labrador, Canada, under continuing European imperialism. She was oriented by the work of Frederick Engels and Louis Morgan on early gender and class relations.
