The Long Telegram

The Long Telegram was a response made on February 22, 1946 by George F. Kennan, "minister-counselor" assigned to the American embassy in Moscow to a inquiry regarding behavior by the Soviet Union which was puzzling to the United States Treasury asking why the Soviets were not supporting the newly created World Bank and the International Monetary Fund. It is the view of a relatively sophisticated and informed American of the Soviet Union in 1946.
